Quick Crafts: Upcycled Decoupage Jam Jar Storage

Last year I took a decoupage workshop and have been dying to try it out at home. I have done a few little bits but this week decided to do something with empty jam jars I have been saving.

I have loads of part bags in my kitchen cupboard so I though I would take a crack at a storage solution.

Decoupage is really easy to do and very relaxing. You basically need glue and paper.

Now I am using decoupage paper but you can use paper napkins you just need to separate all the layers first.  I have to say I prefer the finish with the decoupage paper and my tissue paper always bunches but that is probably just me.

I am also using Mod Podglue which is awesome and seals and goes very shiny but PVA glue is fine.

All you do is cut up your paper in to squares, some people like to rip.

Brush on some glue to the surface of the item you are decoupaging, place the paper on top and brush glue over that.

You just keep going a little bit at a time and  you can do more than one layer if you wish.

Once its covered I paint an extra layer of glue on top and then you just wait for it to dry.

Each lid took about 1o - 12 minutes.

While they were drying I got out my snazzy label maker that OH got me for Christmas and labelled them up.

I rather like them. What do you think?

  1. Oh these are lovely Carol I may have to give these a try, simple but very effective and a chance to use my labelling machine
